Avs looking to close out sweep on Sunday!!!!

The Ontario Avalanche came close to giving away a four-goal lead to Phoenix Knights, but did just enough to escape with a 7-5 victory.

Ontario forced the Phoenix goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 53 shots and forcing 46 saves. Rook Rett made 28 stops and Luke Stripp made 18.

The Avalanche were helped by Zechariah Roberts, who had two goals and one assist. Roberts scored the first of his two goals at 2:43 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Ontario. Paul Ramsey & Antoine Maillard assisted on the tally. Roberts' next geno made the score 6-3 Ontario with 2:07 left in the second period. Ramsey & Maillard again provided helpers. The Avs also got points from Michael Thomas, who notched one goal and one assist,Scott McHaffie, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Antoine Maillard, who also registered one goal and two assists. The Avs also got a goal from Andrew Guzman. In addition, Ontario received assists from Nick Anderson, who had two and Sean Murphy Johnson,Brett FernandezNiklas McPherson, and Jan Tesarek, who contributed one each.

The Avalanche were unable to stop Phoenix from sending pucks towards the net, and the Knights eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Phoenix was led by Brennan Johnsson, who tallied one goal and two assists. Johnsson scored on the power play 40 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Avalanche. Mitch Cobby picked up the assist. The Knights additionally got points from Cobby, who also racked up one goal and one assist. The Knights also had goals scored by Jordan Kaspick,Braden Cooper, and Reid Hunter, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for the Knights were Brynton Macnab and Jordan Woodall, who each chipped in one and Layton Dornn and Robert Crisci, who contributed two each.

Daniel Cepila rejected 26 shots on goal for Ontario. The Avs incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Phoenix incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Phoenix, Macnab was ejected from the game for a grabbing the facemask violation.

The final game of the three game series will be Sunday afternoon at 2:15pm.  See you at the rink!
